The purpose of the dELIRIUM Dance Inc. (“Corporation”) is to provide the moral, volunteer and financial support necessary to assure our programs’ prominence for years to come. This will be achieved through the coordination of various ongoing communications and cultivation activities for past, prospective and current program participants and their parents, through our annual volunteer and financial support of youth program activities, and through the conduct of an annual membership, advertising and ongoing or occasional special gifts campaigns to secure the maximum financial support from individuals, organizations and

businesses that have, could or currently do benefit from the dELIRIUM Dance Inc.

The specific objectives and purpose of this organization shall be:

  • to support instruction in the art of dance;
  • to provide scholarships and financial support for current and aspiring dancers in Richmond and surrounding counties;
  • to support facilities, equipment and trained instructors for participants to engage in the promotion and participation of the art of dance;
  • to support opportunities for participants to engage in recreational and competitive dance;
  • to sponsor, host and/or participate in events and activities that promote the sport of dance; 
  • and to facilitate fundraising opportunities in support of team activities.

Tony E. Colden, Jr. Memorial Scholarship Fund

The Tony E. Colden, Jr Memorial Scholarship is intended to help youth in the greater Richmond, Virginia area further their dance education.  This scholarship will be awarded to deserving dance students, age 10 and up, who embody the characteristics of Tony E. Colden, Jr. a beloved dance instructor to so many. Recipients should embody the traits of enthusiasm, positivity, dedication and dependability. dELIRIUM Dance Inc. will award up to three (3) scholarships.   Scholarship funds will be awarded directly to the dance studio/ educational entity providing the education.

Tony E. Colden, Jr of Portsmouth Virginia began his dance training at the young age of five.  He began learning genres ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop, modern, and African dance at The Gail Harts Dance Company, and later continued his education in the magnet dance program at Churchland High School.  Tony earned his BFA in Dance and Choreography from Virginia Commonwealth University. After graduation, Tony worked with the Starr Foster Dance Company,  Studio 4 Dance Agency, and Henrico High School in the Center for the Arts Program. Most recently, Tony taught at Chesterfield Dance Center, coached at Virginia Union University and conducted workshops and guest artist residencies through the Studio 4 Dance Agency.
